Sports massage at The Therapy Studio, Rimington

Sports massage is a firm, focused treatment that works into muscle and soft tissue to ease tightness, help recovery and improve how you move. At The Therapy Studio in Rimington a 60-minute treatment is £65 and a 90-minute treatment is £85.

You do not need to be an athlete

Most people booking sports massage at the studio are not runners or rugby players — they are gardeners, drivers, nurses and people who sit at a desk all week. The techniques are the same; only the plan changes.

If you are training, Steph will work around your programme and tell you honestly when to back off.

Assessment, treatment, advice

Every appointment starts with a few questions and a look at how you move, so treatment goes where the problem actually is rather than only where it hurts.

You will leave with simple stretches or loading advice so the same thing is less likely to come back.

Like the sound of sports or deep tissue massage? Send a booking request and Steph will confirm a time that suits you.

Aftercare and what to expect

  • Drink plenty of water and keep the rest of the day easy.
  • Some tenderness for a day afterwards is normal.
  • Go back to normal training the following day unless Steph advises otherwise.

Common questions

Is sports massage the same as deep tissue massage?

They overlap heavily. Both work into deeper muscle layers; sports massage simply frames it around activity, training and injury.

Will it hurt?

Deep work can be uncomfortable in tight areas but should never be unbearable. Steph works to a pressure you are happy with and checks as she goes.

How long is an appointment?

Most run to an hour including the initial questions and assessment. Shorter focused sessions can be arranged.

How much is a sports massage?

£65 for 60 minutes or £85 for 90 minutes.

Should I train afterwards?

Keep the rest of the day easy and return to normal training the next day unless you are told otherwise.
