PRP hair restoration near Clitheroe

A natural, non-surgical option for thinning hair, using your own blood plasma to nourish the follicle and encourage healthier growth.

PRP hair restoration treatment at The Therapy Studio

PRP hair restoration is a minimally invasive treatment for hair thinning and hair loss in men and women. Your own blood plasma, rich in growth factors, is injected into the scalp to stimulate inactive follicles. At The Therapy Studio a single PRP session is from £250, a course of three from £700, with iPRF from £300 a session.

Platelet rich plasma (PRP)

Single treatment from £250 · Course of three from £700 — guide prices

PRP is a safe, non-surgical option for people experiencing hair loss, thinning hair or some types of alopecia. It's also used to improve the thickness and quality of hair, and to support results after a hair transplant. It is an evidence-based procedure supported by positive results in clinical research.

A small blood collection is taken from your arm and spun in a centrifuge, separating the red blood cells from the plasma that holds your platelets, leukocytes, proteins and growth factors. That plasma is injected into the areas of scalp being treated, starting the natural cell regeneration process and nourishing the follicles.

On average three to six treatments are needed, four to six weeks apart, with maintenance every six to twelve months. Like any hair loss treatment, results vary from person to person.

More about PRP hair restoration

Injectable platelet rich fibrin (iPRF)

Single treatment from £300 · Course of three from £800 — guide prices

iPRF follows the same treatment plan as PRP, but the preparation is different. A little more blood is taken and spun another way, producing less plasma but a far more concentrated one. The result is higher in growth factors, so it's more potent and can give better results.

Microneedling for hair growth

Hairline from £150 · Full head from £200 — guide prices

Microneedling helps stimulate the stem cells within the hair follicles. The benefits are enhanced when hair growth serums are used, as needling improves absorption of the active ingredients. PRP or iPRF can be used alongside it. On average three to six treatments are needed, four to six weeks apart.

LED red light therapy is recommended as an add-on to any hair restoration treatment, from £20.

Common questions

Who is PRP hair restoration suitable for?

Men and women who are noticing thinning, a widening parting, a receding hairline or some types of alopecia. It also helps improve the thickness and quality of hair generally, and can support growth after a hair transplant. It works best where follicles are weakened rather than completely gone.

How does the treatment work?

A small blood sample is taken from your arm and spun in a centrifuge, which separates the plasma holding your platelets, proteins and growth factors. That plasma is then injected into the areas of the scalp that need it, nourishing the follicle and encouraging inactive follicles back into an active growth phase.

How many sessions do I need?

On average three to six treatments, each four to six weeks apart. After that a maintenance session every six to twelve months is recommended, though this varies from person to person.

What's the difference between PRP and iPRF?

iPRF follows the same treatment plan but the blood is prepared differently — slightly more blood is taken and spun another way, producing less plasma but a more concentrated one. iPRF is higher in growth factors, so it's more potent and can give better results.

What should I do before and after treatment?

Beforehand: cut down on alcohol and smoking for a couple of days, drink plenty of water (at least two litres the day before and on the day) and arrive with freshly washed hair and no products. Afterwards: leave the plasma on your scalp for eight hours, avoid hair products for twelve hours, skip strenuous exercise and heat for at least twelve to twenty-four hours, and keep the scalp out of direct sun for a day.
